My personal fish choices for this traditional Greek soup are red fish aka red snapper (“kokkinopsaro”) or rockfish (“skorpina”). Any other white fish can be used in this recipe, such as seabream, perch, grouper, haddock or pangasius.
To enrich the taste of this authentic Greek soup, I recommend you also use a couple of prawns, but this is entirely optional. I also recommend the use of 1/3 teaspoon of turmeric for the eye-pleasing yellow color and taste it offers, and for its many health benefits, too.
